Yard Sale Finds

Last Saturday I had my first Yard Sale Scavenger Hunt, and let me tell you - I have a new addiction. It was so much fun! I absolutely LOVE getting a good deal and people are practically giving things away at these yard sales. I know that I have to be careful not to get things that are fun but I don't need so I have decided to stick solely to baby things, since we seem to have everything else we need (unless I find something that I obviously cannot live without.)

My plan was simple. I found this fabulous yard sale website and mapped out all the yard sales that were advertising baby things. I called up a friend to come with me and early Saturday morning set out to find some treasures! The first one was a huge success and found lots of things for practically nothing. The next four - were a huge disappointment. We either couldn't find the building (even the GPS said we were there), or the GPS couldn't find it, or the GPS found it and the building existed but there was no yard sale to be found! Somewhat frustrated but still excited about my earlier purchases we decided to call it a day. I dropped her off and headed home.

But fortunately for me, from her house to mine (an 8 minute drive) I stopped at four yard sales along the way. I found a few more things including a fabulous dresser!

(I actually got this at a thrift store but was still excited about it!)

For a total of $31, I don't think I did too bad.

I may just have a new Saturday morning hobby :)

Happy (1/2?) Father's Day!

I just wanted to say Happy Father's Day to the best man I know! I am so lucky to have Nate as my best friend and daddy to little whale baby. Here are my top favorite things about him right now (always subject to change, since I find more and more reason to love him every day!)

1. He rubs my feet every time I ask him.
2. He tells me how beautiful I look every day.
3. He carries everything for me. Even if it isn't that heavy.
4. He does the dishes every night.
5. He always gives me that "one more minute" of cuddling, even when he has other things to do.
6. He always tells me how much he appreciates me.
7. He tells me every day how excited he is for whale baby to come.
8. He claims that we are equally as good at Catan, even though he has beaten me the last three times we played.
9. He will listen to me tell the same stories over and over and is always somehow interested each time.
10. He will drop everything for me if I ever say I need some Nate time.

I couldn't have asked for a better person to spend every day with! My kids are so lucky they get to have him as a dad.

I love you sweetheart!

What is Whale Baby?

You know, I knew ever since day 1 that Whale Baby was going to be a boy and yesterday we found out... she's actually a
GIRL!!!
I couldn't have been happier to be wrong! We were so excited and loved every minute of seeing her on the screen. She was moving around, kicking and squirming and it was just seriously so amazing! I loved watching them measure every part of her like her legs, and her back and her little fingers! She kept waving at us too which was fun (ok, it was less of a wave and more of a trying to push the ultrasound machine off her). It was especially cool seeing her stretch out as long as she could go. She kept moving around at first so they had a hard time getting certain parts of her and then she flipped on her stomach and just laid there and would not budge. They wanted to get a good picture of her face but no matter how much they poked and prodded, that girl would not move! They had me turn on my side, sit up, move around and do all sorts of things to get her to roll over but she was being a stubborn little one. So they had another doctor come in and try and she couldn’t do it so they were going to have me come back but then they decided to try one more time and they finally got a perfect profile shot of her (seen above). We also got a really cute one of her feet – which are the longest, skinniest things I have ever seen! Haha it is so funny! But the best part was, since they couldn’t get a good shot of her, we got to watch her for 45 minutes! Words honestly cannot describe what a special and amazing moment it was to see our little girl for the first time.

My favorite picture of her little feet -

Happy Birthday Weekend to Me!

I seriously have the best husband in the world! He decided that one day wasn't good enough for my birthday so he made a whole weekend out of it!

On Friday we went to Wendy's (which I have been craving for a while now) and then to Walmart to buy some kites. For my bday, the family that I work for got me the Cities and Knights expansion for Settlers of Catan, so we were really excited to try that out. But then Nate totally whooped me, even though it was my birthday weekend! I know, I couldn't believe it either!

Then on Saturday was my actual birthday! Nate had to work for a few hours in the morning so I got to sleep in and take my time getting ready. I spent the rest of the morning turning one of my old skirts into a maternity skirt. It didn't fit me anyway so I figured I might as well give it a try and it totally worked and now I have a maternity pencil skirt!

Once Nate got back, we made a picnic, grabbed our kites and ran to the park. The picnic was fantastic but flying kites was way harder than we had thought! It didn't help that it wasn't as windy as it should have been but we had a blast anyway running around trying to get those darn things up in the air.

That night we went to Not Your Average Joe's and had the most fabulous dinner and dessert. The perfect day ended with us crashing on the couch and watching Iron Man 2 (which made me totally want to see The Avengers again!)

After church on Sunday we had a nice relaxing afternoon and then went to our good friends for some more Catan playing and friend enjoying.

Luckily for me, it was Memorial Day Weekend so the birthday weekend just kept on going! We went for a drive through some gorgeous neighborhoods in the area and took mental notes of the kind of house we are going to buy some day.

Later that night we had another couple come over for FHE. And just as I was in the middle of what I thought (or rather was hoping to be) a very spiritual lesson, a whole crowd of our friends come walking up our stairs yelling surprise! That is right - Nate somehow managed to throw me a party that was completely a surprise! He had been trying to plan it for my actual birthday but due to Memorial Weekend and graduation, everyone was either out of town or had family in town. He could tell that I was really sad that we weren't going to be able to hang out with friends on my birthday so being the sweetheart that he is, he told me that he had been trying to plan a surprise party but it hadn't worked out so we were going to have to have the party next week. I thought he might try to find a way to surprise me but figured it would be hard do since I already knew the party was happening on Saturday. But he got me! He is so good to me.

Thanks sweetie, for the best birthday ever!
